What to know
- Google Wallet will stop supporting PayPal as a payment method starting June 2025.
- Users will not be able to add or use PayPal for in-store or online payments through Google Wallet.
- Existing PayPal connections in Google Wallet will be removed automatically.
- Users can still use PayPal separately or add other payment methods to Google Wallet.
Google Wallet is making a significant change for its users. Starting in June 2025, you will no longer be able to use PayPal as a payment method within Google Wallet. This means you cannot add PayPal to your Google Wallet account or use it for in-store or online payments through the app.
If you already have PayPal linked to your Google Wallet, that connection will be removed automatically. You do not need to take any action for this to happen. After the change, PayPal will not appear as an option when you try to pay with Google Wallet.
This update only affects the use of PayPal inside Google Wallet. You can still use PayPal directly for online shopping or other transactions outside of Google Wallet. Google Wallet will continue to support other payment methods, such as credit and debit cards, which you can add or manage in the app.
Google has not shared a specific reason for removing PayPal support from Google Wallet. If you rely on PayPal for payments, you may want to update your payment methods in Google Wallet before June 2025 to avoid any interruptions.
